Emotions

We’re all driven by our emotions By how we feel, in any situation We're built for both joy and pain Even if it drives us all insane It's the way of the world we live in Even if sometimes it feels like a prison That's human nature, how it's meant to be We feel everything we touch, hear and see Love, happiness, pain, and sadness Stress, frustration, anger, and madness Our emotions can break us or keep us intact Because they always determine how we react Our reactions are based on what we feel And sometimes it clouds fake from real Emotions also define how we see others And sometimes dictates how we treat one another They can unite and separate people And give us strength or make us feeble We're born with free will to make our own choices And we have a right to use our own voices But our voices aren't always strong Because sometimes they can steer us wrong So think about the feelings, each and every day Because in reality, our emotions can lead us astray

Invisible Man

There’s always one in your world A man you never see Not the kind that gets unfurled In your reality There’s always one, who stands nearby But never fits your gaze Not the one who catches your eye Or sets your heart ablaze There’s always one, who treats you right Without the need to show No grand display, no need for light Just more than you may know There’s always one, you turn away Without a second thought Not the one you choose to stay Or someone that you’ve sought There’s always one, who holds his place While others take the stage A quieter strength, a steadier pace That never fits the page There’s always one, who plays it safe Who doesn’t push too far Who doesn’t live beyond the waif Of whom you think we are There’s always one, you never pick Though he would always stay Not fast, not loud, not chasing quick Just built a different way There’s always one, the same as them The ones you run toward Just without the brighter hem Or edges you’ve adored There’s always one, an invisible ma...

Unrequited

Unrequited love is the worst kind of pain It hurts so much it can drive us all insane Nothing blinds more than one’s own heart Especially when the battle is lost from the start It's almost crippling and it always ends in sorrow You're just a victim of Cupids misguided arrow Falling in love shouldn’t ever be regretted Even when it’s someone you never expected It's like they don't see you for who you are But when you open up its like they don't care The heart wants what it wants and that’s okay Some just aren’t going to feel the same way It's just something that was never meant to be No matter how right it felt, they just can’t see They just don’t feel the same as you feel Even if in your heart it all felt so real You end up on the sidelines with nothing to show And become just another person that they ignore That’s just how life goes; you can’t force its hand Sometimes things just don’t go as planned To those who’ve been there, don’t...

Thankful

As we all battle through the darkest of days Let’s all be thankful for the ones who stayed Because at your side there will be a few Who will hold your hand and guide you through Shoulders to cry on when you’re at your worst Friends you can lean on that you didn’t see at first People who understand and will always be there Reminding you of love when you feel nobody cares Isolation can take a toll, it’s relentless and unkind It plays on our weaknesses and leaves us blind We aren’t the only ones enduring its darkness Sometimes it’s hard to fathom its harshness It makes us feel lonely though we aren’t really alone And it provided a loyalty we have seldom known So let’s be thankful for those who kept us all sane And get past the  darkness and be together again

Window Shopper

Life is sometimes really unfair Showing us things that really aren’t there It’s like reading a cover of a book Sometimes all we can do is look We never know what it’s like inside And it’s not up to us to decide Fate has already made up its mind That life is going to be unkind It always shows us what we can’t possess How we get around it is anyone’s guess We see people living extravagant lives And we can only envy as they thrive Like a child wanting an expensive toy But it’s another unattainable joy We see love and envy romance In our hearts we would kill for a chance But sometimes it’s just not meant to be Or at least we feel like we may never see That fairy tale ending we want real bad And we live on, still alone and sad It’s all so close and yet so far We feel it’s part of who we are Like you’re that character in the story Who tries so hard but finds no glory Like a window shopper in the rain all wet Wanting something, we can never...

Introverts

Alone on purpose, and broken inside strong on the surface silently wiping tears aside Lost and lonely minds, protected by walls crowds are unkind yet still standing tall There's nothing to show, no words are spoken but behind closed doors the silence is broken The over-thinkers curse, thoughts in multitude and to make it worse there's solace in solitude Words with pen on paper, flowing smooth and true no foul, no harm, no caper only honest to a few Conversations are seldom, mainly with the closest around only a handful are welcome because trust isn't easily found To wounds of sticks and stones, the introvert never succumbed whether in public or alone always comfortably numb

Inside Voice

It's almost an art form, bottling it all up Not saying a word and letting your blood boil Showing a smile to the world, staying strong Yet crying and letting go behind closed doors, Though it doesn't really work for everyone, Cos some hearts can only take so much Until they boil over and the rage kicks in And you lose control of your emotions Sometimes losing control is perceived as weak It ostracizes people and overshadows everything Any and all good deeds go down the drain pipe And you're left to tangle with your troubles alone But is it really weak to accept your pain? And want company during hard times? Is it really fair to ostracize the already lonely? When all they ever wanted was a friend? You feel your nightmares become real All your dreams dissappear before you And your past will haunt you everyday No choice, you just have to live through it Your heart, beating broken beats and so hollow That empty, lonely feeling of remorse inside The d...

Envy

Look at him, so handsome and smart Girls flocking around him, he’s like a work of art How he does it? Nobody can really say Imagine if someone looks at you this way? Look at her, so popular and beautiful Intelligent, funny and oh so graceful She can have anyone in the blink of an eye And all you can do is stare and sigh Look at them, such a close group of friends Confident that they’ll be together till the end Having each other’s backs through thick and thin If you had friends like that, how would life have been? Look at that family, so happy and loving Perfect in every way, with no pushing or shoving They’re like something out of a movie or a TV sitcom, And you just sit there, wondering where are they from? Look in the mirror, what do you see? A human being, young, strong and free Don’t worry about them or what the world sees in you Because someday, you'll be in the eye of envy too

Somewhere out there

I don’t know who you are, Or if you’re near or far I don’t know if you even exist Or whether or not I will persist I wonder who you could be or why you'd ever choose me Will I really be the only one you need? Regardless of my caste or creed? I’ve searched for you a long, long time Longer than I’ve been writing rhyme If I meet you, will you truly be the one?  And will my search be finally done? But what if I have already met you?  And you were just passing through Or maybe we were never meant to meet And I’m in denial and cant take defeat Even if it feels like something’s amiss I guess that’s just how life really is I wonder who this will all end up with? Or if I should accept that 'the one' is a myth And whether or not I accept that life's not fair I'll always wonder if you’re somewhere out there

Adulting

Remember when we were kids? And all we wanted was to grow up?  Now as adults, we're flipping our lids  Wondering if the stress will ever stop Back then we were all so carefree Life seemed easy, a breeze and then some As we got older we all began to see How difficult life actually becomes We still have to make time for our friends And as adults we’re sometimes forced to choose The real few will always be with you end We have to let go of some we don’t want to lose Now it’s responsibilities galore It's mostly all work, hardly any play  And childhood feels like a lifetime ago  That's just how it is, there is no other way  We have priorities like bills and food And we do what we can, just to get by It’s all a routine, which is not always good We just do what we do and don’t ask why Adulting was never meant to be easy at all But we have to keep running our own race Life may overwhelm us and make us feel small ...

Empathy

We always look for that common ground People who can relate to us are seldom found We all crave the same like-minded companionship The kind that feels like more than a normal friendship We always look for that truly understanding heart People who know what we’ve been through before we start That one person we enjoy talking to, someone who listens One who you can laugh and cry with, without inhibition It’s rare that we actually find someone who gets everything And when we do find them, we’re quick to let them in We open up hearts to them without holding anything back And just by being there, they help us get our lives back on track We trust them completely and they become our best friends And we hope that they won’t break that trust till the very end We all need that one person, that one confidant in our life The ones who will never leave us, even when we endure strife They are the ones we turn to when things go completely wrong Through the h...

Lone Wolf

Wolves always work in packs Hunting, and watching each others backs But this one is an outcast, one left behind Perceived to be weak by his own kind He watches from a distance As his pack wonders away together For his family's acceptance There's no storm he wouldn't weather As the night falls and the moon rises His lonely howl echos in the wind One eye constantly watching for surprises Scaring of threats with an angry grin Alone, angry and hurt, he moves onward For his wounds he blames nobody but himself And through it all he can only move forward He is now and forever, the one true Lone Wolf

Days go by

One day you’ll realize that life is such You look around and see, things have changed so much Nothing is like what they used to be anymore And you start thinking, “was all of that a show?” As life passes by and you look at everyone in envy You can’t help but feel, “why couldn’t that be me?” The internal battle between heart and mind never ends Especially when you stand alone among all your friends Looking back at your life, it really hasn’t been so bad Lots of amazing memories, both happy and sad Now and again you’ve endured pain and heartache And spilled so many tears over all those costly mistakes Life wasn’t meant to be easy and all and that’s a fact There’s nobody on earth who can try and deny that In good times and in bad we will never forget The people we lost and the words we regret As we come to certain points and take certain bends We hope that desolate hearts can one day be happy again And find meaning in their lives that they j...

Pain

We’ve all felt those god awful feelings The kind that hurt so bad they leave us reeling Some people will never understand the pain Or how it slowly but surely drives us insane Depression is a brutal killing machine It’s felt by millions, though it’s rarely seen Most suffer in silence and bottle it all inside And it feels like there’s no bright side It has no remorse, the merciless pain it brings No matter what it stems from, it’s unforgiving Some claim that being emotional is a cry for attention But those people don’t realize that it’s not the intention There’s no way to measure how much pain one endures And nobody has the right to judge that pain, that’s for sure People can be vicious and insufferably remorseless fools And to ridicule someone who suffers, is just plain cruel Imagine the difference we help could make in someone’s heart If we had just listened to them and been there from the start We could save countless lives if we could ju...

Love

Love hits us in the strangest of ways and trying to figure it out can take days we never see it coming, it’s always unexpected especially when it comes totally unsuspected It's one of those things we need and crave it even has to power to turn us into slaves to the camel clutch of love, we'll always submit even if we're sometimes afraid to admit We look for a soul mate, someone who gets us someone who listens without making a fuss a loving embrace that keeps us warm in the cold and a shoulder to cry on as we grow old Being in love is truly an amazing feeling especially when a mere glimpse leaves you reeling it’s like every romantic comedy you ever seen holding hands and snuggling an everyday scene But there is a dark side to love, the pain, and hurt it can turn your heart into dust and bury you in dirt falling in love is easy, we don't even realise it’s happening falling out of love, a feeling that's beyond excruciatin...

The Lost Knight

Like a Knight from the days of old He wears his armour over a heart of gold Fighting for survival in life's great war Demons in his mind from all he saw He fears no man, blade or bodily harm He can't count the times he nearly bought the farm Standing against evil, a gauntlet he would face Fighting for good and vanishing without a trace Living with body covered by the scars of his past He travels on hoping he's find true love at last The Armour around his heart, fading slowly He was a hardened warrior, yet humble and lowly  Like all Knights, he has a chip on his shoulder  Bearing the weight of his pain, onward he'd soldier His only weakness was his Noble heart  And from his undying lust for love, he did not part Only the blades of love could pierce his armour  Bringing him to his knees, as he was no charmer To defend his love he would charge any fight But for now he wonders on, a lost and lonely Knight

The Beast

He had everything any man could need Just like the arrogant Prince in that fairy tale story Day by day he lived it up and his ego would feed Never realizing he himself would undo his on glory And just like that, one day he lost it all His life and riches gone and his heart broken Upon his knees he watched his kingdom fall His tears describing words unspoken Now all alone and his past a distant memory The life he knew slipped through his fingers Locked in his lonely tower for what seems like a century His appearance changed, like a beast he lingers The scars he bares from self-inflicted wounds Watching the world go by from his own personal hell Hoping that one day he will no longer be marooned and like the Beast in the story, he too will be saved by a Belle
