As a nation, so much have we endured Yet we are always resilient and reassured Wars, tsunami’s pandemics and more We stood through it all with hope at our core Now as nature descends with unforgiving force And its fury takes its ruthless course We rise once again in shared solidarity Our hearts teeming with unrelenting clarity No matter the differences in our beliefs We’re there for each other, providing relief It shows how truly selfless we can all be It’s truly inspiring for all who see Through trials and tribulations, we are united  In hope unyielding, we are never divided Our spirits shine though our darkest hours And we will see humanity’s true healing power We will rebuild and we will not falter Our shared path forward we will not alter Because no matter the punishment or crisis  We are Sri Lanka, a nation that rises 

And so it began, one dark and stormy night Lost and drowning in an ocean of thought With pen and paper in hand, I began to write Not knowing at all the outcome I sought. With Rolling thunder and a flickering candle And a heart full of sorrow and pain I penned all the thoughts that I couldn't handle As I sat staring at the pouring rain "Memoirs of a Burdened Heart" the first title I chose Inadvertently opening an unimaginable door Looking back, I'm glad that door didn’t close I never imagined myself a writer, all those years ago. A hobby born from a pain filled heart Is now a livelihood that I'll never give up From a time I didn't know where to start To a point where now, I never want to stop So I found my passion in very trying time A place where I can open the floodgates In poetry I found a love of words and rhyme  And this became my Twisted Fate

Some would say, it's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all, Some would argue that one is lucky to have their heart broken rather than never knowing what its like to fall And holding on to the end of that burning rope, while hanging on to every inch of sanity Sometimes it ends up helping you overcome a certain level of obscene vanity Some question 'What is love?'  what does it actually mean? To some, love is the reason the sun shines after rain It's an addiction, a craving one just has to give in to even if the injection causes excruciating pain It is light and darkness at the same time, it's motivation it has the power to cure as well as kill, But while two people are together in the depths of love, it's nothing short of a phenomenal thrill And to never know the feeling or to never fall in love? everyone deserves it, even those who are wicked It is more powerful than any weapon, it'll bring to you to your k...
