As a nation, so much have we endured Yet we are always resilient and reassured Wars, tsunami’s pandemics and more We stood through it all with hope at our core Now as nature descends with unforgiving force And its fury takes its ruthless course We rise once again in shared solidarity Our hearts teeming with unrelenting clarity No matter the differences in our beliefs We’re there for each other, providing relief It shows how truly selfless we can all be It’s truly inspiring for all who see Through trials and tribulations, we are united  In hope unyielding, we are never divided Our spirits shine though our darkest hours And we will see humanity’s true healing power We will rebuild and we will not falter Our shared path forward we will not alter Because no matter the punishment or crisis  We are Sri Lanka, a nation that rises 

As we all battle through the darkest of days Let’s all be thankful for the ones who stayed Because at your side there will be a few Who will hold your hand and guide you through Shoulders to cry on when you’re at your worst Friends you can lean on that you didn’t see at first People who understand and will always be there Reminding you of love when you feel nobody cares Isolation can take a toll, it’s relentless and unkind It plays on our weaknesses and leaves us blind We aren’t the only ones enduring its darkness Sometimes it’s hard to fathom its harshness It makes us feel lonely though we aren’t really alone And it provided a loyalty we have seldom known So let’s be thankful for those who kept us all sane And get past the  darkness and be together again

We humans are experts at blaming each other And we do it, even if it means hurting another We never take responsibility for our own actions do we? We’re blind to it for some reason and this just cannot be  We blame others for things like racism, rape and wars When we see others suffer, we start moving our jaws We punish those who do wrong without trying to teach them right And then we go on and on about some self-righteous fight  We blame nations for arming rebels and creating unjust ways Thing is, we could’ve stopped it, but we let it happen anyway We blame a whole race and religion for terrorism without cause And then voice our opinions without knowing what’s true or false We protest immigrants for coming over and ‘taking our jobs’ They aren’t you enemy and this ignorance must stop Imagine if we worked to together and kept moving forward But alas we fall prey to propaganda and the words of a coward  We fight for equality amongst...

How did humanity manage to stray so far? Why can’t we understand that one simple truth? That we are all human, same skin, bone and hair To change this world, we need to start with the youth We have politicians who live to turn things sour They curse and destroy peoples lives at will They're driven by greed, money and power If only they worked for the people and not make them ill Then, we have terrorists who kill in the name of god Driven by the propaganda of an unjust hatred Complemented by racists and supremacists whose leaders are all frauds They need to be taught right & wrong before they end up dead There are also those who call themselves men in vain Rapists, abusers, thieves and murderers just to name a few On the underwear of humanity, these people are a stain The saddest part of all this, is that its nothing new Is this really the world we should proudly call home? This world is full of narrow minded individuals, we humans judge each other so much its almost ritual acceptance in abundance that the world needs hate only grows from many misguided seeds So what if someone believes in something? there should be no room for all this grumbling its not anyone's place to disagree with that to each their own, that's a saddest of all facts Everyone has a right to choose their own dues why does it matter if someone looks different than you? or even if he or she follows another religion? so what if man loves a man or a woman loves a woman There's so many people who talk about saving the earth hate is taught to people, it's not something we inherit at birth save the trees, the animals, but it's all talk with no action lets begin with the people, maybe that'll start that needed chain reaction All this war, the senseless killing and suffering around us all because some idiot somewhere decided to make a fuss MJ said...
