The Weight of Hate

Hate has been with us for as long as time Woven through history, like rhythm and rhyme From podiums down to corners of our streets Under the guise of pride, it does not retreat   With religion, race, even skin colour at its core We live divided, hate turns strangers to foes So many fight over borders, gods and flags, And so many innocents end up with toe tags   Politics divides us as much as other beliefs And corruption reigns, while people grieve Some don’t vote, because our ‘leaders’ lie Believing false promises, while children cry   Even gender has become a battlefield And ‘equality’ is a fight where nobody yields Orientation and identity are a whole other mess Where it will all end, is anyone’s guess   Class still divides the very streets we walk From the meals we eat, to the way we talk No matter where we live, or what our background Ultimately, we end up beneath the same ground   Race and culture, so often misunderstood What is wrong to some, to others is ...

Rage

There’s so much you hold inside So much that you don’t confide Outward smiles and inward screams Reflecting on your broken dreams When it’s all pent up, it takes a toll And you feel the fire within your soul Your blood starts to boil deep within But you can’t let out what you’re holding in It may be your family, even your friends And it feels like it will never end People love to tell you to how to deal And how you’re supposed to feel They tell you that you must stay strong Because reacting is apparently wrong Nothing good can come from violence So just absorb and deal in silence Keep throwing punches in your mind And destroy the ones being so unkind Let your mind take pleasure in the pain Of all the fiends driving you insane Just hold back with all your might Drive out your demons and continue to fight Just take a breath and control your rage And don’t let the monster out of its cage

The Patriot

Defend the rights of everyone Not just the fascist beliefs of one Fight for peace and absolute unity Fight with pride and with dignity Don't fall prey to silly propaganda  Or someone's petty political agenda Stand up against racism and hate Instead, learn to love and appreciate Rise up against Lords of corruption Not with war, but peaceful disruption Fight for poor, weak and oppressed Say it loud, don't let it be suppressed Fight for the victims of senseless abuse For all genders, colours, castes and creeds Fight, with actions, words and deeds Bring honour to the people and the flag Without the guns, war paint and rags Violence should never be one's fate Cos true patriots defend without hate

Words

Words, one of the most powerful forces on earth They can bring happiness and they can also hurt We take them for granted, we don’t really think That the things we say can leave us on the brink Words start wars and destroy without warning Spreading hatred and sending armies storming At the same time they can spread love and peace Bringing war to an end so that suffering will cease Words can tell stories both of fact and of fiction From poetry to music and other forms of diction They bring to light all your most intimate feelings Like a promise of affection that’ll leave you reeling Words can offend and break peoples hearts at will Destroying a person’s spirit with the pain they instil They can bully, shame and bring fear to peoples minds And turn a weakened soul in to one that’s unkind Words can also motivate, strengthen and inspire And bring to life all your inner most desires They can give a broken spirit a new outlook on life The right ...

Against the Ropes

Each morning, the beginning of the next round The fight with life, the hardest around  It'll beat you, bloody you and hurt to no end And all you can n do survive and find a way to mend Your life is what you make of it they say But we know that  a little luck goes along way  On a rare day, life retreats and we go on the attack  But then as we let our guard down, life hits back In life and in boxing,  landing punches is a must  Because if we don't, we just end up eating dust  Sometimes life does knock us down hard  And while wounds heal, we'll always be scarred  Like the cutmen in the corner, we have our friends  We trust and hope that they'll be there till the end But we can't depend on them cos they fight battles of their own. So sometimes it's left to us to fight life all alone We make bad choices and play catch up all the time  And following our hearts, is truly our only crime  We w...

Dreamer

I dream of a world where we all get along, A world where people know right from wrong Where there is unity without hate, And humanity would change the world’s fate I dream of a world that accepts those for all they are Where lifestyles don’t matter and love ruled by far A world where religion didn’t divide people at all And where the good in people prevailed and evil would fall I dream of a world where there was only one race Where people get along despite the colour of their face A world without selfish people and prejudice failed And people respected each other and nobody bailed I dream of a world where women aren’t objectified Where our mothers, sisters and daughters are glorified A world where people stood up against abuse and rape And where justice prevails and evildoers see no escape I dream of a world where human and animal lived as one Where profit was based on hard work and not stolen by a g...

One Blood

How do you not see that we're all the same? Same flesh, same blood, we differ only by name Don't we understand what human is anymore? We think we're smart, but we've nothing to show Yes, it'd true we all believe in different things Hate is pointless, what justice does it bring? We have different gods, lifestyles and rules Yet some choose to listen to the rambling of fools What is the point of a nation with free education? If we don't teach people to avoid hateful situations? If we were taught the basics of right and wrong Maybe we'd stop hearing the same hate song All this propaganda about blood these days So much injustice and the people look away All these extreme and racist behavior Is not now nor has ever been the work of a savior We've already seen and felt the toils of a war And it was the single worst thing that we ever saw Why try so hard to go backwards in time And lower ourselves to a level even less than grime Whether...

Ultimate Chaos

I've said it before, I'll say it again this world has lost the plot so many people have died in vain either executed, blown up or shot All in the name of religion and God, wasted lives for a reason makes no sense if not in the street, then a hospital ward, how can anyone be so dense? How did we forget that simple fact? how can you ignore the shame? how do you keep up this senseless act? have you forgotten we're all the same? We're all Human! thus we're all the same! The same flesh and blood, just born in different cultures the fact that no one realises this is a crying shame! and now we're all victimised by senseless vultures What gives you the right to take innocent lives away? who gave you the power to decide who lives & dies? haven't you noticed the rivers of blood flowing everyday? haven't enough innocent people been made to cry? When will you realise you're only killing your own? people just like you and me, regardless of Nationality or race...

The Ugly Truth

Take a good look at the world today, At this once beautifully mysterious place Does everyone have to continue living in fear? Is this truly what any 'God' in any religion wanted for the world? We live in a world full of hate, pain and evil Honestly, how can people be so ignorant? Intolerance is a horrible thing, Why can't the people get along and live together? How can we as humans spread so much hate? Why are we afraid of people who are different? There are people suffering and  dying for nothing all over the world The rich live and the poor struggle to survive The extremists kill and terrorize in the name of 'God', The innocent who pray and worship the same 'God' suffer and die How ignorant can people be? just because others are different And because others have different beliefs and choose the way they live Innocent lives lost, and nobody does anything about it, That's the sad truth, all these questions go unanswered Doesn't anyone our so called l...

A day that changed my life

October 20th 1996, was a day that changed everything one simple left turn, and it was all or nothing a simple long weekend trip was all it took the memories of what happened next, had as all a little shook It didn't make much sense that we had two vehicles that day if the trees of Yala could speak, it would talk about this story today simply put the second vehicle brought six souls home that night they would all agree that the events of this day, gave us a fright By around 10am, we had seen most of what there was to see except the leopard, which was as elusive as can be our guide told us to take a left up ahead greeted by armed men escorting white vans, we all thought we would end up dead We stopped dead in our tracks, they opened the doors of the car what happened there after was testament to the situation in our country by far 'take us to the manik ganga' they said, and we did what we were told I'll never forget the events of this day,  even when I'm old It was la...

Scars

Once again he fights to go to sleep, wanting to make things right and earn his keep everyday he battles memories of his past he craves to be free of pain at long last Blood, sweat and tears, spilled like a soldier, with every hour that goes by, he feels the world get colder in his heart of hearts, he knows he's not the only one that suffers one would think all the scars would make him tougher How does one survive a life of broken dreams?, to clear a mind so beaten, internally he screams continuing down that long and lonely road, his shoulders weighed down by a heavy load Once again lying a wake in his bed, wondering if he can make true, the visions in his head, life is a fight, a battle and sometimes a war emotions so pure, so painful, so raw Battered and beaten, he keeps getting back to his feet, knowing he has to stand up, even in the face of defeat onward he plods and pushes through the demons both near and far and his memories will haunt him forever, lik...

Unjust War

Many years of meaningless violence we’ve seen Assassinations and bombings, an everyday scene Our people have spilled gallons of blood For what reason must we bury our brothers and sisters in mud Soldiers fall, while civilians crawl People being crushed underneath falling walls Now from above we see more danger From this terror, we inherited an unjust anger There was so much fighting now; we have forgotten why it started How can any human being be so ill hearted? Even children don’t see the light of another day They take one small step and they’re blown away We’ve been through it before, let’s stop this from happening again In so many years, there was no justice, just pain Let’s end this terror before even more people die Don’t say there is peace, because that’s a blatant lie Politicians are the cause of all this stupidity Spreading words of hate and immoral insecurity We look to our leaders for motivation and hope But they are the ones who push...
