The Great Outdoors

Can civilization progress without all the killing? It doesn’t take much; we just have to be willing People hunt for sport and poaching for the haul Selling skin & bones of creatures great and small Clearing out forests in the name of development Fairly certain slaughter is not what that word meant That’s the sad thing about this world, its run by greed Wonder how it came to this and who planted the seed The corporate's only want their pockets filled While the poachers just want their orders billed What if we all spend some time on conserving? Couldn’t we co-exist without the marauding? Game hunters stand next to their kills shamelessly And we sit here behind screens, pretty much aimlessly  Keyboard heroes spread their words all around But only a handful would actually get on the ground We have to stop taking this planet for granted          Protect our animals and get trees planted We’re not just killing animals, we're killing

Envy

Look at him, so handsome and smart Girls flocking around him, he’s like a work of art How he does it? Nobody can really say Imagine if someone looks at you this way? Look at her, so popular and beautiful Intelligent, funny and oh so graceful She can have anyone in the blink of an eye And all you can do is stare and sigh Look at them, such a close group of friends Confident that they’ll be together till the end Having each other’s backs through thick and thin If you had friends like that, how would life have been? Look at that family, so happy and loving Perfect in every way, with no pushing or shoving They’re like something out of a movie or a TV sitcom, And you just sit there, wondering where are they from? Look in the mirror, what do you see? A human being, young, strong and free Don’t worry about them or what the world sees in you Because someday, you'll be in the eye of envy too

Words

Words, one of the most powerful forces on earth They can bring happiness and they can also hurt We take them for granted, we don’t really think That the things we say can leave us on the brink Words start wars and destroy without warning Spreading hatred and sending armies storming At the same time they can spread love and peace Bringing war to an end so that suffering will cease Words can tell stories both of fact and of fiction From poetry to music and other forms of diction They bring to light all your most intimate feelings Like a promise of affection that’ll leave you reeling Words can offend and break peoples hearts at will Destroying a person’s spirit with the pain they instil They can bully, shame and bring fear to peoples minds And turn a weakened soul in to one that’s unkind Words can also motivate, strengthen and inspire And bring to life all your inner most desires They can give a broken spirit a new outlook on life The right
