Loyalty

Sometimes we never know What's real and what's a show We take People at face value Without knowing what's true We trust without blinking And love without thinking We confess and we confide Thinking nothing can divide But sometimes we get hurt The ones we trust, slinging dirt And then their truth is revealed Their agenda's no longer concealed And the pain is almost numbing Because we never saw it coming And the ones we feel will never break Cause the most painful heartache But that's just how life works out Not all friendships go all out That may be a hard pill to swallow Betrayal can make anyone feel hollow Friendship is more than time spent It's not transactional, there's no rent It's more than drinks and companionship And it's more than just a relationship It's support through good and bad It's a hug when you're happy or sad It's unconditional love and respect Without ever knowing what to expect Above all

Twenty-Twenty

What a chaotic year it’s been, Look at all that we have seen, The world stopped because of a virus, And we’re still letting hate divide us, Politicians still lying through their teeth, Ignoring all the funerals and wreaths, Corruption still rampant behind the scenes It’s still the same old song and dance routine, We all should address this common threat, And fight our way back from certain death, So many have been affected already, We’ve seen something this deadly, Yet some still think that they’re invincible, And contracting the virus is inconceivable, They live on in their ignorant bliss But the truth is, nobody is safe from this, They protest having to wear a mask, And it’s really such a simple ask, But people are ignorant and selfish, Only thinking of their lives, not anyone else’s, At least now can we set aside the hate? And unite so we all don’t suffer the same fate, We’re locked down and confined, With so much left undefined, Hopef

Fight

Fight back, stand your ground Don’t let anyone push you around People pray on weakness every day Don’t let anyone put you in harm’s way Nobody has the right to put you at risk Don’t’ be blind, walk away straight and brisk Fight back; take control of your life Stop letting others put you in strife Live life on your terms, not anyone else’s Sometimes we all have to be a little selfish Whether friends, colleagues or whoever Nobody controls you, not now, not ever Your fate is your own, and that’s a fact A genuine few will always have your back How you choose to live is entirely your choice, Don't be afraid to stand up and use your voice Because it’s all entirely up to you alone Make your decisions all on your own Above all, by your heart do what’s right Don’t be afraid, just stand up and fight

Trust

On our family, loved ones and friends We only see the good in them all And hope they’ll catch us when we fall We blindly put our hearts in their hands Regardless of where they stand But sometimes that trust is misplaced And we end up in a really dark place Trust is hard to rebuild when it’s broken Especially when no words are spoken It leaves our hearts broken and tattered Making us feel like we never really mattered But that’s life and not everyone stays And we still open our hearts every day Because nobody wants to live life alone And even if it’ just a voice on the phone We need someone to talk to and to listen Because our own minds can feel like prison It's the people that stay that are an absolute godsend They truly care and will be there till the end But still, for all, it would be naive  To think that even they won't leave But it's not wrong to trust or open our hearts Because we never know what it may start? It could be

Hope

Hope is the need to be happy, when the world is weighing you down. It’s the need to smile, when everything is going wrong Hope is the need for love, when you feel like you’re unworthy. It’s the need for companionship, when you’re all alone. Hope is the need for empathy when nobody seems to understand its the need for likeminded people who can relate to how you feel Hope is being able to reach out, knowing there’s a helping hand. It’s the loyalty of friends and family, when you need them more than anything. Hope is the driving force of life, when you’re back is against the ropes. It’s what pushes you forward, when everything holds you back. Hope is the need for justice, when unfathomable acts are committed. It’s the need for something to believe in, when all else seems lost Hope is all that we have, to help us get through the worst. It’s the belief that things will get better, despite all the things that hurt.

Invisible

There’s always one in the room A person you just don’t see One that always goes unnoticed And not because aesthetics don’t agree There’s always one, who feels inferior   One who’s always had it rough From the way they look to how they speak They feel they’ve never been enough There’s always one, who is unhappy One who always hides behind a façade Who tries hard to make a difference But nobody sees or knows to applaud There’s always one, blinded their past One who sees only weakness Blinded to the strength within them By life’s unrelenting bleakness There’s always one, feeling unworthy Of success, happiness, and love Looking enviously of those lucky few Like they’ve been blessed from above There's always one, c arrying the weight of the world One who gladly took the blame Never thinking twice about taking a hit Or wanting anyone to do the same There’s always one, who doesn’t believe in themself One who feels happiness

Lockdown

What a time to be alive In a world that once thrived Life is at a standstill And how we react is our own will It has taken away life as we knew it And tried hard to break our spirits It has taught us many lessons About ourselves and our emotions Lockdown has taken a toll On our minds, bodies, and souls Stuck at home and lost in thought About past battles and ones to be fought And our minds are now implanted With freedoms, we took for granted At the same time, it has reminded Of friends who are like-minded It has renewed loyalty and love To help us all rise above It is true we’re far apart From those close to our hearts But we’re not alone in any instance We’re together despite the distance Take solace in the little things Embrace what little joy they bring Because we will be together again Or all this will be in vain Despite the frustration felt within We can’t let this pandemic win So stay healthy and don’t roam Please be safe

Unrequited

Unrequited love is the worst kind of pain It hurts so much it can drive us all insane Nothing blinds more than one’s own heart Especially when the battle is lost from the start It's almost crippling and it always ends in sorrow You're just a victim of Cupids misguided arrow Falling in love shouldn’t ever be regretted Even when it’s someone you never expected It's like they don't see you for who you are But when you open up its like they don't care The heart wants what it wants and that’s okay Some just aren’t going to feel the same way It's just something that was never meant to be No matter how right it felt, they just can’t see They just don’t feel the same as you feel Even if in your heart it all felt so real You end up on the sidelines with nothing to show And become just another person that they ignore That’s just how life goes; you can’t force its hand Sometimes things just don’t go as planned To those who’ve been there, don’t

Thankful

As we all battle through the darkest of days Let’s all be thankful for the ones who stayed Because at your side there will be a few Who will hold your hand and guide you through Shoulders to cry on when you’re at your worst Friends you can lean on that you didn’t see at first People who understand and will always be there Reminding you of love when you feel nobody cares Isolation can take a toll, it’s relentless and unkind It plays on our weaknesses and leaves us blind We aren’t the only ones enduring its darkness Sometimes it’s hard to fathom its harshness It makes us feel lonely though we aren’t really alone And it provided a loyalty we have seldom known So let’s be thankful for those who kept us all sane And get past the  darkness and be together again

All I wanted

All I ever wanted was to be with you To be your first good morning And your last good night To be the one who was always there At your side through thick and thin To be a shoulder you can lean on And to make you laugh and smile I wanted to feel your hand in mine As we walked beneath moonlit skies I wanted to sit with you in the sand And watch the sunset into the sea I wanted to hold you in my arms And run my fingers through your hair I wanted to feel your warm embrace And hug as you fall asleep on my chest I wanted to listen to all your stories And hear all about your day I wanted to take away all your fears And be your knight in shining armour I wanted to be your best friend And to love you unconditionally I wanted us to be together forever To live our lives side by side And be partners in everything we do But this was not to be, And I had to face the truth My love for you was wasted, Because you didn't feel the same I still want
