Heroes, we all have them in our lives They give us hope, they help us thrive And no, I don’t mean the ones with capes Just regular humans in all sizes and shapes   No powers, masks or need for fame But they change the world, all the same They live to give us strength and hope They show us love and help us cope   Some wield scalpels, steady and precise Some teach us truth, and give us a voice Some guard our freedom and enforce laws Giving everything for us, no matter the cause   Some our family, showing us the way Parents, siblings, friends, there every day They hold our hands, and keep us warm And guide us through the worst of storms   They fight battles that we often do not see And they give their lives so selflessly They give us all the freedom and choice Yet we take for granted, what they sacrifice   Heroes are everywhere, even if we don’t see They’re normal people, like you and me Whether they fight, heal, protect or teach They leave a mark, that we can neve...

Hope is the need to be happy, when the world is weighing you down. It’s the need to smile, when everything is going wrong Hope is the need for love, when you feel like you’re unworthy. It’s the need for companionship, when you’re all alone. Hope is the need for empathy when nobody seems to understand its the need for likeminded people who can relate to how you feel Hope is being able to reach out, knowing there’s a helping hand. It’s the loyalty of friends and family, when you need them more than anything. Hope is the driving force of life, when you’re back is against the ropes. It’s what pushes you forward, when everything holds you back. Hope is the need for justice, when unfathomable acts are committed. It’s the need for something to believe in, when all else seems lost Hope is all that we have, to help us get through the worst. It’s the belief that things will get better, despite all the things that hurt.

I’ve always tried to be a good person, To be helpful, caring and kind, To be genuine with no real reason But apparently I’m arrogant and blind Is it wrong to believe there is good in our hearts? And that people can still take a stand? Since when is it weak and when did we start, Accepting that savagery is grand? Am I the only one who still believes in romance? And love in its unconditional form? You’ll never really know if you don’t take a chance And face what you’re hiding from Am I the only one left who sees right from wrong? And believes that there is always hope around? It's been said before, so let it be said again This world has gone completely insane Why do we try so hard to destroy each other? Can't we just accept the differences in one another?  So many people suffer and die for no reason And by doing nothing, we're commiting treason For what? Someone else's political advantage? We need to put an end to this genocidal rage If you're a politician, don't abuse that power Use it for change so millions don't have to suffer Why do innocent souls have to die for your benefit? Is this the world we live in? Where sharing a song is a sin? What the hell is this country coming to? why are we turning a blind eye to the atrocities that keep happening? children are being abused and killed, women are being raped, murders all over the place, blatant disregard for human life on roads? is it just me or has Sri Lanka  'evolved' so much that human beings, have become unbelievably stupid? Let's begin with the number of road accidents that have been happening over the last month or so, all because of stupid drivers with no patience, because everyone has to be in such a damn hurry, that they don't realise other lives are in danger.
