Adulting

Remember when we were kids? And all we wanted was to grow up?  Now as adults, we're flipping our lids  Wondering if the stress will ever stop Back then we were all so carefree Life seemed easy, a breeze and then some As we got older we all began to see How difficult life actually becomes We still have to make time for our friends And as adults we’re sometimes forced to choose The real few will always be with you end We have to let go of some we don’t want to lose Now it’s responsibilities galore It's mostly all work, hardly any play  And childhood feels like a lifetime ago  That's just how it is, there is no other way  We have priorities like bills and food And we do what we can, just to get by It’s all a routine, which is not always good We just do what we do and don’t ask why Adulting was never meant to be easy at all But we have to keep running our own race Life may overwhelm us and make us feel small ...

Growing Up 90s

I remember growing up, it was so much fun running around outside and playing in the sun the world was a different place then, we were so free hiding in the bushes, even climbing up a tree Cartoons back then were better than now right up until the one with the chicken and the cow the music back then still made you wanna dance the lyrics told stories and the beats kept you in a trance TV was so original back then, where do I start Knight Rider, A-Team even Hart to Hart Renegade, Sledge Hammer and MASH 4.0.7.7 The Fresh Prince, The Simpsons and more, it was heaven Movies were the same, they told brilliant stories brilliant cinematography and acting in all its glory Jurassic Park, Titanic and so much more long before Hollywood became a special effects whore Computer games were the bomb too, conquest, alley cat we always played through never know where the baddies would lurk two play on one keyboard, we made it work Those were the days, when Nintendo ruled the wo...

A day that changed my life

October 20th 1996, was a day that changed everything one simple left turn, and it was all or nothing a simple long weekend trip was all it took the memories of what happened next, had as all a little shook It didn't make much sense that we had two vehicles that day if the trees of Yala could speak, it would talk about this story today simply put the second vehicle brought six souls home that night they would all agree that the events of this day, gave us a fright By around 10am, we had seen most of what there was to see except the leopard, which was as elusive as can be our guide told us to take a left up ahead greeted by armed men escorting white vans, we all thought we would end up dead We stopped dead in our tracks, they opened the doors of the car what happened there after was testament to the situation in our country by far 'take us to the manik ganga' they said, and we did what we were told I'll never forget the events of this day,  even when I'm old It was la...

Childhood

Running around the garden, playing all kinds of games thinking back now, life will never be the same sitting here reminiscing and writing all these rhymes lord knows I'll never forget, those amazingly innocent times Cricket, touch rugby or running around with toy guns such happy memories, so much crazy fun running freely up down the road together with my cousins and friends,  memories last forever Playing with figurines and toy cars alike pretending to be characters from TV that we like no stress in our lives in those care free days I miss those years in so many ways Now we're all grown up, some with kids of their own our own parents look at us and say ' goodness how they've grown' watching the next generation, run around like we did takes me back to those days when no worry was ever needed The best days of someones lives are always their childhood full of freedom and fun and the meaning of brotherhood even if it's playing a bass drum in school or wearing a cap ...
