Thankful

As we all battle through the darkest of days

Let’s all be thankful for the ones who stayed

Because at your side there will be a few

Who will hold your hand and guide you through

Shoulders to cry on when you’re at your worst

Friends you can lean on that you didn’t see at first

People who understand and will always be there

Reminding you of love when you feel nobody cares

Isolation can take a toll, it’s relentless and unkind

It plays on our weaknesses and leaves us blind

We aren’t the only ones enduring its darkness

Sometimes it’s hard to fathom its harshness

It makes us feel lonely though we aren’t really alone

And it provided a loyalty we have seldom known

So let’s be thankful for those who kept us all sane

And get past the darkness and be together again
