Loyalty

Sometimes we never know
What's real and what's a show
We take People at face value
Without knowing what's true
We trust without blinking
And love without thinking
We confess and we confide
Thinking nothing can divide
But sometimes we get hurt
The ones we trust, slinging dirt
And then their truth is revealed
Their agenda's no longer concealed
And the pain is almost numbing
Because we never saw it coming
And the ones we feel will never break
Cause the most painful heartache
But that's just how life works out
Not all friendships go all out
That may be a hard pill to swallow
Betrayal can make anyone feel hollow
Friendship is more than time spent
It's not transactional, there's no rent
It's more than drinks and companionship
And it's more than just a relationship
It's support through good and bad
It's a hug when you're happy or sad
It's unconditional love and respect
Without ever knowing what to expect
Above all, for friendship to be all it can be
Nothing is more important than trust and loyalty
