Introverts

Alone on purpose,
and broken inside
strong on the surface
silently wiping tears aside

Lost,lonely minds,
protected by walls
crowds are unkind
yet still standing tall

There's nothing to show,
no words are spoken
but behind closed doors
the silence is broken

The over-thinkers curse,
thoughts in multitude
and to make it worse
there's solace in solitude

Words with pen on paper,
flowing smooth and true
no foul, no harm, no caper
just honest to a few

Conversations are seldom,
mainly with the closest around
only a handful are welcome
because trust isn't easily found

To wounds of sticks and stones,
the introvert never succumbed
whether in public or alone
always comfortably numb
